3 Baby Shower Gifts You Can’t Go Wrong With

20150202_101056-1Some of us are naturally talented gift givers, and some of us…not so much. Whenever I am invited to a baby shower I inevitably start to stress over the gift! My go-to rule when this happens is this: stop stressing, and get what they need. If you take that approach you really can’t go wrong. With that in mind, here are three wonderfully useful baby shower gifts.

Diapers & Wipes

Basics. Basics. Basics. Hands down this is the most useful gift you can give a new mom. Steer away from size newborn so the mom-to-be doesn’t end up with too many boxes. Babies usually don’t stay in them for too long anyway. Instead, go for size 1-2 or even 3-4. The best part is if they don’t end up using them diapers and wipes are easy to re-gift… (shh!).

Keep in mind that mom may be interested in cloth diapers too. If she’s got a gift registry, take a peek and see if she’s listed any to give you a heads up.

Lotions & Soaps

Sticking with our theme of basics, you really can’t go wrong with some baby lotion and soap. This is also a great way to help mom save a few dollars. I was still pulling out new soap bottles from my baby shower a year after my son was born!

Blankets & Swaddles

These are still some of my favorite gifts. At my shower I remember thinking, why so many blankets? Then my son came. When you have a tiny human who spontaneously spouts bodily fluids every 20 minutes, you start understanding why you need so many blankets.

Summer/Spring: Muslin blankets all the way! I absolutely adore muslin swaddle blankets. Aside from being absolutely adorable, these are wonderful not only for swaddling but for basically everything else. They are more breathable than standard cotton and so they work great for summer babies!

Winter/Fall: If you have a talent for quilting go for it, I felt so loved knowing someone took the time to put together a blanket for my son. Plus they are great for colder weather.

I’d love to know what baby shower gifts you loved (or didn’t).  Let me know it the comments below.

Wishing you all the love,

Kember

  1. One gift I wasn’t sure about at first but LOVED once I read it was the book “Happiest Baby On The Block” so much good advice and easy to read when breastfeeding!

  2. I was really happy to see baby blankets on your list, because I’m a big believer in them. We have so many blankets and I have specific times/uses for each one. Also, I’m a beginner sewist/quilter/crafter and I’m and tally looking forward to making gifts for babies ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Oops, typo. Instead of “and tally” let’s pretend that said “really”. Or you can change it for me before you approve it ๐Ÿ™‚
